The Department of Language and Linguistic Science at the University of York has two doctoral programmes, the PhD in Linguistics and the PhD in Language and Communication ( We offer the possibility of several doctoral studentships and fellowships funded by:
- AHRC (Arts and Humanities Research Council)
- ESRC (Economic and Social Research Council; preference will be given to applications in the area of advanced quantitative methods in comparative linguistics)
- Wolfson Foundation

Closing date for these: 3 February 2014. You must have been offered an unconditional or conditional place on one of our PhD programmes before this deadline.
